Opening Concert : Orchestral Music

Mozart's creativity was always galvanised by the stylistic innovations he discovered on his travels. His Symphony No. 29, with its great expressive richness, was written a few months after a stay in Vienna that gave the eighteen-year-old musician the opportunity to hear Joseph Haydn's Sturm und Drang symphonies. Eleven years later, at the height of his fame and enriched by new European soundscapes, Mozart wrote his sublime Concerto No. 20, whose tragic grandeur continues to move pianists and listeners alike.
