With his trio, pianist Wajdi Riahi combines the best of both worlds: his Tunisian heritage with his passion for jazz. His well received debut album was a nostalgic ode to his hometown. In his latest album Essia, he goes one step further. The unique mix of North African Stambeli and Gnawa rhythms with his jazz improvisations is both poetic and virtuosic.
