GoYa Quartet
Coming from Belgium, Cuba, Japan, and France, the musicians of the GoYa Quartet met at the Concertgebouworkest in Amsterdam, where they all play. Among them is the Belgian violinist Sylvia Huang, a finalist in the 2019 Queen Elisabeth Competition. In this concert, they present Ludwig van Beethoven's First String Quartet, where he demonstrates his mastery of the genre developed by Mozart and Haydn. The Adagio is likely inspired by the tomb scene from William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. Benjamin Britten's Second Quartet is an imaginative tribute to the English composer Henry Purcell.
