Mihály Berecz
Winner of the prestigious Liszt-Bartók Prize at the Géza Anda Competition (2021) and first prize at the Kissinger KlavierOlymp (2023), 27-year-old Mihály Berecz is a rising star in the piano world. Reasons enough to welcome this Hungarian pianist to the Flagey Piano Days. The music of Béla Bartók, whose complete solo piano works are in his repertoire, is a fixture in his recitals. Berecz brings us his Improvisations on Hungarian Peasant Songs, alongside a classical sonata by Haydn and Chopin's Second Piano Sonata - known for its third movement the Funeral March. Look out for Debussy's virtuoso and groundbreaking Études, which the composer dedicated to Chopin.
