Trio Bécel "Le laboratoire de Franz"
Death and the Maiden, behind the scenes of the creation | Junior 6+
Le Trio Becel aims to open the doors of the classical music and to make this musical universe more accessible. To do this, the three chamber music lovers perform a full transcription of the second movement of the Death and the Maiden quartet, catapulting us into the mind of the composer, Franz Schubert.
Within the depths of his thoughts, the pathways of the language of music begin to take shape (bècél means “to speak” in Hungarian). They are flanked by three doors, each symbolizing a possible stage of the compositional process, eagerly waiting to be unlocked.
The first door opens to the world of rhythm, deciphered by Gergely with his viola. This initial encounter sparks our curiosity and encourages further exploration. The second door reveals Léonore and her flute, introducing us to melody. As for the third and final door, it bears the inscription ‘harmony’ and barely conceals Emma’s harp.
The trio concludes its concert with a transcription of excerpts from Beethoven's piano sonata, “Pathétique” or with a work by American composer Miguel Del Aguila (Uruguay, 1957), a three-time Grammy Award nominee. “Submerged,” a tribute to Argentine poet Alfonsina Storni (1892-1938), explores the relationship between music and poetry, skillfully combining drama, South American nostalgia and captivating rhythms.
