Cie Paprika "Velouté de nuit"

It is dark. Ubi is asleep. And her sleep is crowded with strange characters, fantastic animals, images, sounds and emotions that invite to travel and to contemplate. It's a funny, gentle dream that takes shape before the eyes of children: between a magic lantern and subdued scenes, miniature opera and doll theater.

This waking dream unfolds on stage in musical and visual sequences, like flashes of daydreaming. The children are seated all around, in a semi-circle. They contemplate Ubi's dream as it opens up before them, in this garden-like setting, intimate and enchanting... And to bring this mystery, this paradise of the senses, to life, tall people work just a few centimetres away, in the shadows: a tightrope walker-puppeteer, a pianist and an opera singer. They whisper Copland, Poulenc and Britten. Children's ears perk up.

Velouté de Nuit” is a show with no explicit words, and a universal scope. It gives children the keys to learning and appreciating other music, to becoming aware of the beauty of certain noises, to refining their listening skills, their eyes... In short, to experience and feel emotions that are out of the ordinary. A total show.
