The Story of Moondog + The Viking Composer of 6th Avenue
In New York, Moondog was known as the ‘Viking of 6th Avenue’. He became a true icon. On 6th Avenue you could find him day and night for years, dressed as a viking with a horned helmet and spear. There he sold his poetry or played his self-invented instruments. The street performer grew into one of the most extraordinary composers of the 20th century, admired by Igor Stravinsky, Charlie Parker, Leonard Bernstein and Philip Glass, among others.
