World music in classical music
Composers from all times are being influenced by popular music. In addition to the inspiration from national music, some composers found their inspiration during their travels. Antonín Dvořák left his homeland, the Czech Republic, to travel to America, and Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov travelled around the world aboard the ship Diamond. These travels formed the basis for Dvořák's Symphony "From the new world" and Rimsky-Korsakov's music inspired by the stories of One Thousand and One Nights. Also during the concert, our very own composers will take us back to Congo and North America. Both young and old will particularly enjoy this musical journey.
