Mezzo-soprano & Viola Duo
Brahms composed the two songs op. 91 for his good friend Joseph Joachim and his wife, alto Amalie Weiss, on the occasion of the birth of their son (and his godchild) Johannes. Charles Martin Loeffler is less known than Brahms. He studied violin with that same Joseph Joachim. In his poems, the viola is the main instrument. Frank Bridge on the other hand, made career as composer but also as the violist of the Joachim Quartet.
