Alain Corbin
Histoire du silence
Since 2017, Flagey organizes a series of inspired meetings with inspired thinkers. To launch our new season ‘en grandeur’, we invite famous French historian Alain Corbin. In his successful book Histoire du silence; De la renaissance à nos jours (2016), he tells us about a very particular history: of silence. In his book, he discusses all aspects of this peculiar history: intimacy, discipline, tragedy,… At the same time, his book is an invitation to reflection in our modern time often controlled by media and where silence has become under pressure. Silence can inspire us to achieve extraordinary acts, to make works of art and devise new philosophies. Alain Corbin tells us all about it.
