Resurrection
Kristof Hoornaert
Kristof Hoornaert’s first feature film hints at great promise. With few words, the director depicts the difficult meeting of an elderly man, who has taken refuge in the solitude of an isolated farmhouse, and a young man on the run, walled up in silence. Spirituality occupies a central place in the film’s sensibility, with a cinematic style that encourages meditation. But earthly realities are also expressed through nature, the third key figure in a film in which Johan Leysen is masterful in his role.
