Leningrad Cowboys Go America

With their outlandish appearance and their zany buffoonery, the Leningrad Cowboys were a rock band with obvious appeal for Aki Kaurismäki . Their perfectly-matched humour sparkled from the get-go, when they made their first music videos, and is perfected in this first feature film about the trials and tribulations of their tour of America, a comic tale underscored by what we can only assume is typically Finnish fantasy. Its commercial success led to equally outré spin-offs (including a second feature Leningrad Cowboys Meet Moses).
