Collegium Vocale Gent, Philippe Herreweghe
Season 18/19 marks the start of Philippe Herreweghe’s residency of at Flagey. Herreweghe will bring his ensemble Collegium Vocale Gent with which he made international fame and has become a benchmark for vocal music for more then 50 years. This concert will mark a series of concerts at Flagey with Herreweghe and will be held in the stunning Church of La Cambre Abbey. As a true ‘Kapellmeister’ and following in the footsteps of Johann Sebastian Bach, Herreweghe has programmed Johann Hermann Schein’s magnum opus: his five-voice madrigal collection Israelis Brünnlein. This collection by the predecessor of Bach and cantor at the St. Thomas Church in Leizig is without a doubt one of the pearls of the German Baroque tradition.
