La leggenda del pianista sull'oceano
Giuseppe Tornatore
A child found on a cruise liner, called 1900, became the ship’s pianist, and never left the vessel... until the fateful day when his home was about to be scuttled. Alessandro Baricco’s original monologue was short and uncluttered, an elegant metaphor for the human condition. Tornatore transformed it into a flamboyant, baroque, virtuoso feature film, with Tim Roth displaying his taste for excess with infectious enthusiasm. This succession of sumptuous set-pieces has plenty of emotional depth, particularly at its heart-breaking conclusion.
