Claude Ledoux dedicated Mensagem ao mar to a Belgian-Brazilian musicologist working on the status of Amazonian Indians. We will be familiar with the chords of Tom Jobim’s Chega de saudades. Two stages of a journey that brings Brazil, Japan and Europe face-to-face with their cultural identities. Ledoux substitutes the notion of crossover with that of resonance: two sounds combining in a unique magical sound. For him, this resonant place is the seat of our imagination.
