Kanon Pokajanen
‘Have mercy’ and ‘Praise the Lord’ are the choruses of Arvo Pärt’s Kanon Pokajanen. Pärt completed this monumental a-capella choir work after many years in 1997 for the 750th anniversary of the Dom in Cologne. The musical simplicity, intensity, but also the silences, make of this musical work one of his most cherished musical works. Kanon Pokajanen is the musical highlight of Arvo Pärt’s tintinnabuli silent music style with which he inspired a new audience for classical music and inspired music lovers world-wide to enjoy music in a completely different way.
