The double bass player has shared the stage with big names like Stan Getz, Brad Mehldau and Pat Metheny but now it’s time for his solo-album The Gleaners, released at the start of 2019 by ECM and named after French director Agnès Varda’s 2000 documentary of the same name. The palette of melodies, rhythms, sounds and textures evoked by Grenadier makes you forget that it really is just him and his instrument on stage.
