Pleins feux sur l'assassin
Georges Franju
Having shot to international fame for his short films, here Franju treats us to delicious black humour, with heirs looking for the corpse of their eccentric patriarch while knocking each other off as they seek to inherit his manor. This was only his third feature film, inspired like his previous film (the memorable Les yeux sans visage) by a Boileau-Narcejac crime novel. But he is highly adept at moulding the conventions of the genre film to his unique style. With music by Georges Brassens.
