Expo Windfall Light | The Visual Language of ECM

Right from the beginning, cover design has been an integral part of ECM’s record production. The collaboration of founder and producer Manfred Eicher with designers including Barbara and Burkhart Wojirsch as well as Dieter Rehm resulted in a cover aesthetic that opens a dialogue between photographic image and music. By means of selected examples, originals, publications, and a presentation of more than 1,500 album covers, this exhibition hones in on the complex image-world of ECM.
