She is a phenomenon, the Norwegian violinist Vilde Frang, currently dominating international stages with her original interpretations of a familiar repertoire. Along with pianist Herbert Schuch, who we have hosted at Flagey on a number of occasions, she presents Brahms' heart-warming Violin Sonata No. 1 together with Schubert’s Fantasie, a series of virtuosic variations on the melody of the love song Sei mir gegrüßt. Meanwhile, Bartok’s Violin Sonata No. 1, into which the composer wove a number of Hungarian and Romanian folk influences, is rhapsodic and rousing.
