Firgun Ensemble
The Firgun Ensemble was created in 2017 by students of the Royal Conservatories of Antwerp and Brussels. Firgun' is an untranslatable word from Hebrew and means as much as 'to be happy for the happiness of another'. In January 2018, the ensemble won the first prize and the Audience Award at the Storioni Willem Twee Concours, after which the Firgun Ensemble was invited by NPO Radio 4 to make their radio debut from the Spiegelzaal at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and performed at the prestigious Grachtenfestival in Amsterdam, the Arte Amanti Festival and the NJO Muziekzomer. For the occasion, the ensemble plays Brahms' famous Clarinet Quintet, Op.115 together with the Clarinet Quintet of the Danish composer and conductor Bo Holten, former conductor of the Flemish Radio Choir.
