The filmmaker traces the evolution of a civil struggle in Nicaragua, which began with the farmers’ movement in 2013 in response to the proposed construction of the Great Interoceanic Canal, which would split the country in two and devastate farmland, lakes and forests. Various social struggles arise and converge in response to further abuses of power, and, in April 2018, insurrection breaks out. This is the struggle of Elba, Doña Chica, Gaby, Elyla and so many other “miniscule” people, from the edge of the trench to exile.
