One A.M. + Behind the Screen + The Rink
Short films by Charlie Chaplin
In 1916, Chaplin embarked on a series of 12 two-reeler short films for Mutual. After moving on from the mechanical comedy of Keystone (where he took his first steps) and garnering great acclaim for the 16 somewhat more accomplished films he made for Essanay, his lucrative contract with Mutual was the talk of the tabloids. It was where he really hit his stride: One A.M., Behind the Screen and The Rink are prime examples.
