Mussorgsky: pictures at an exhibition
A masterpiece inspired by the artworks of Victor Hartmann, a friend of Mussorgsky’s who suffered a tragic early death. One of the most popular orchestral works, Pictures at an Exhibition is a tribute to the power of art and friendship to withstand the test of time.
Beethoven: klavierkonzert nr. 3
After his first two piano concertos, composed conservatively to keep the spotlights on the soloists and their virtuosity, Beethoven changes course in this 3rd Piano Concerto. He pulls out all the stops, using a minor key to convey emotion, drama and stormy heroism. A symphonic feast!
Liebrecht Vanbeckevoort, laureate and public favourite of the Queen Elisabeth Competition in 2007, knows this 3rd Piano Concerto very well. Not surprising, since Beethoven's piano concertos have occupied an important place in his repertoire from the start of his career.
