Nicknamed ‘La Francesina’ (the little French girl), Élisabeth Duparc was the leading singer of Handel’s final works. The master composed no fewer than twelve principal roles for her light virtuoso voice, including such prestigious roles as Semele, Michal (Saul) and Nitocris (Belshazzar). Sophie Junker and Le Concert de l’Hostel Dieu pay tribute to her with a programme devoted to works from her heyday which made her the composer’s favourite.
