Dvorák : Stabat Mater
Brussels Philharmonic, Vlaams Radiokoor, Octopus Symfonisch Koor
The Stabat Mater has been an extraordinary source of inspiration for centuries: Mary's finely painted emotions at her dying son are universal and timeless. Antonín Dvorák's version is undoubtedly the most poignant. Following the dramatic death of his three children the composer threw himself into the writing of his Stabat Mater. This intense work not only gives space to grief, but also ends on a note of hope and consolation.
