Derrière les éventails et les masques : l’univers du néoclassicisme
Before the concert, discover Brussels!
At the end of the 19th century, travel guides ran out of superlatives to describe the splendor of the Rue Royale in Brussels. And rightly so: the Place Royale is probably the most accomplished example of ancient influences in public space. The monumental perspective of the rue Montagne de la Cour creates a beautifully staged image of an ancient temple, facing the historic old lower town.
A varied walk along the historical architectural styles from the 18th to the early 20th century, from the Place Royale to the Royal Church of Saint Mary of Schaerbeek and an interior visit to the Ultieme Hallucinatie where Paul Hamesse modernized the neoclassical style into a new architectural style!
We finish with an aperitif on the spot. If you wish, you can also dine here. However, it is advisable to make reservations: https://www.ultiemehallucinatie.be.
The tour ends at 5:30pm. After the tour, you can attend the concert by Brussels Philharmonic at Flagey: 'Mozart & Haydn'. There's a combiticket for both the tour and the concert.
