Dutch pianist Brederode composed the suite Ruins and Remains for piano, string quartet and percussion in 2018 to commemorate the centenary of the end of WWI. The fragile music "deals with grief and loss and learning to rise again". The pianist performs this blend of poignant intimacy and hope with percussionist Jasper van Hulten and the Matangi Quartet, one of the most audacious string quartets in the Netherlands.
