Shelley Duvall

This October at Cineflagey, we pay tribute to American actress Shelley Duvall, who passed away last July. She was, of course, best known for her role as Wendy Torrance in Stanley Kubrick's Shining, whose restored extended version we are screening. However, she began her career with Robert Altman, for whom Duvall was a true muse, as evidenced by the seven films they made together. We'll concentrate on the three Altman films in which she played the lead role. Thieves Like Us, a masterful variation on Bonnie & Clyde, Three Women, for which Duvall won the Best Actress award at Cannes, and Popeye, Duvall seems to have been born for her role as Olive Oyl.
