Le Fils, L’Enfant… After Rosetta, these pithy titles reflect the stripped-down style of the filmmakers. A style that centres on core dramatic elements, on the moral and social conflicts that the protagonists undergo. Focusing on one character, they are titles that evince a clear artistic symmetry that runs through the successive films. The three films being screened this trimester show their linear, bare-bones approach: realistic scenarios that move the viewer without resorting to artifice or flashy effects, but with certain tropes that evoke the film noir genre.
