Music Chapel Festival - cinema and music, musicals
As soon as cinema discovered sound, music flooded in: the musical was one of the first genres to ride the wave as soon as the soundtrack was invented.
Today it continues to go from strength to strength; whether riffing on current fads, or revisiting its past, it loses none of its popularity, as shown by the triumph of La La Land, with all its nods to classic references. The story of the musical is the story of entertainment, family-friendly fare that produces a euphoria that few other genres are capable of arousing. Tribute really should be paid to this marvellous tradition, studded with masterpieces, from Minnelli and Donen to Demy and Akerman: an unbeatable recipe for pure unadulterated enjoyment
