Brussels on screen
2019 marks the 30th anniversary of the Brussels-Capital Region and the 150th anniversary of the tram. Double opportunity for a season of films showcasing Brussels as a cinematic backdrop.
From amateur short films dating back to the beginnings of silent cinema – revealing snapshots of Brussels life at the time – to today’s Brussels mirrored in documentary and fiction, the programme takes in Skolimovski’s one-off Belgian film with Jean-Pierre Léaud burning rubber in the Bois de la Cambre, and the endearing tram driver of Manneken Pis.
