Heimat 3 - Edgar Reitz

Edgar Reitz owes much of his fame to his monumental regional epic, Heimat, in 4 parts totalling more than 60 hours of film: a fictitious village in the Hunsrück (a rugged plateau between the Rhine and Moselle, the filmmaker’s homeland) is the microcosm where all the echoes of a particularly turbulent 20th century for Germany are concentrated.

Heimat 3 centres on a key moment – the fall of the Berlin Wall and reunification. An impressive and undeniably authentic cinematic achievement.
