Rainer Werner Fassbinder

Theatre, cinema, television...Fassbinder threw his energies into the performing arts like no other: did he not bet when he started out that he would make 30 feature films by the time he was thirty? From incendiary critiques to literary adaptations, his work is shot through with recurring themes: first and foremost, Germany, the only setting for his films; then his actors, who worked with him from his early days at the Antitheater until his untimely death; finally, his anti-conformism, which always pitted him (sometimes violently) against bourgeois morality.
