Est-ce trop dire que qualifier Bassekou Kouyate de meilleur joueur de ngoni – cet instrument à cordes traditionnel d’Afrique de l’Ouest – le plus talentueux au monde ? Certainement pas ! En effet, c’est Kouyate qui a fait connaître l’instrument (ancêtre du banjo) dans le monde entier. Après un concert au Royal Albert Hall de Londres, le groupe Ngoni Ba, qui porte bien son nom, a été sacré meilleur groupe rock’n’roll du monde par le quotidien britannique The Independent.
