Quatuor Van Kuijk
album release : Impressions Parisiennes (2024, Alpha Classics)
"Style, energy and a sense of risk. These four young Frenchmen made music smile," writes The Guardian about the young Quatuor Van Kuijk. Formed in 2012, they won multiple prizes at the Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition just three years later and were named BBC New Generation Artists. Their new album, recorded at Flagey, showcases the French repertoire's vocal and piano masterpieces adapted into string quartets. On the reworked melodies by Poulenc, Fauré, Ravel, Debussy and Satie, composer Baptiste Trotignon inspired his jazzy version.
