Damien Brassart & Joël Rabesolo "Nàmàkàlà"
Junior 5+
The Belgian saxophonist and Malagasy guitarist explore traditional music from West Africa. Each interpreted Manding standard has a specific context and story. Nàmàkàlà means "connecting people so they can understand each other." Inspired by the mediating role of griots in West Africa, the duo aims for exchange, encounter, and transmission through music. Their arrangements stay close to tradition while leaving plenty of space for jazz improvisation.
