As part of its 50th anniversary celebrations, the Centre Vidéo de Bruxelles is continuing its reflection on today's world through the prism of cinema. For this second event, we'll be looking at the issue of systemic racism. In partnership with Estelle Depris (Sansblancderien), this evening will be an opportunity to question the structures of discrimination at work in our society and to open up the debate.

After the screening, Estelle Depris (@estelle.depris, formerly @sansblancderien) will host a debate on systemic racism. Grab your mobile phones and join in an interactive discussion in the auditorium, with polls, quizzes and word clouds to deconstruct prejudice.
Xavière Remacle, the teacher behind the meeting between the two classes of students, will also be on hand after the screening to chat with the audience.

Produced in 1992, “Photo de classes” is the story of a meeting between two groups of girls who seem to be separated by culture, religion and social background. On one side, high-school girls from an upmarket district of Woluwe, on the other, secretarial students at a technical school in a working-class district of Schaerbeek. Through this confrontation, the film explores the links and divisions that are revealed, creating a fragile bridge between two distant worlds.
