Quand on n’a que l’amour
The IDAY network celebrates its 10 years and offers you to revise Jacques Brel's universes with the belgian singer Alex Houtart (Alexonor).
The benefits of the evening support research on Artemisia annua, a plant which takes a crucial place in the fight against malaria.
An exceptional show
Montmartre 1954
Juliette Greco is stunned by the electrifying talent of a young Belgian singer who landed in Paris. The artist is singing « Les Hommes s’amusent comme des fous au dangereux jeu de la guerre » (ref. Songtext « Ca Va » « Le Diable », Jacques Brel), while the war in Algeria is in all the discussions of the salons of the left bank in Paris. She decides to resume this song in her musical tour. The young singer is Jacques Brel. A few months later, the power of the texts of the Belgian strikes even more with the song “Quand on n’a que l’amour pour répondre aux canons et rien qu’une chanson pour convaincre un tambour.” Brel is enjoying its first international success and is going on tour for more than 10 years.
IDAY has chosen to celebrate the 10th anniversary of its creation by reliving this unique epic and dreaming of an impossible dream with Alexonor, singer-songwriter from Brussels, revelation of the Francofolies, favorite of the Academy Charles Cros and Price of the International 'Alliance Française. He brings Brel's greatest hits back with a piano, a voice, songs and jubilant stories!
We chose the studio 4 in Flagey for its incredible architecture and aesthetics to fully experience Brel's repertoire in this exceptional place with perfect acoustics (public parking under the place Flagey).
An exceptional project
IDAY-International is a network of African civil society organizations that currently includes 587 member organizations in 19 African national coalitions. It is the only spontaneous African network in the field of education. IDAY's main goal is to provide quality education for every child and young African. We can no longer speak of quality education in Africa without improving health in schools, especially taking into consideration malaria and intestinal worms. Since 2010, IDAY has been developing school garden projects composed of plants with high nutritional value and medicinal plants, including Artemisia annua, a powerful antimalarial and natural dewormer.
More information about this plant
- The schools in which IDAY introduced it in Africa since 2010 show spectacular results: decrease of absenteeism, improvement of school results and considerable reduction of health costs ... and the IDAY network has acquired expertise in the matter
- In order to introduce this plant into the panoply of means available to prevent and cure malaria, scientific research in line with international standards is necessary. Find our campaign on our website: https://iday.org/education-sante-jardins-cantines-scolaires/ and in particular the scientific file sent to the World Health Organization (WHO).
- Artemisia annua is attracting growing interest among Health Ministers on the African continent, particularly because of the growing difficulties encountered with official programs in terms of resistance to pharmaceutical products distributed, as well as in financial terms
- The Minister of Health of Rwanda discovered the possibilities offered by the plant following our visit last March in Kigali. She announced on Twitter in late June that every Rwandan family will receive a plant of Artemisia annua!
A child dies every two minutes from malaria. A plant could save them!
