La Bataille des Marolles (Jean-Jacques Péché & Pierre Manuel)
BE – 1969 – 60’ – FRE OV
Exactly 50 years ago, the owners of three blocks of houses in the heart of the Marolle district received an official letter announcing an expropriation procedure. Everything was to be razed to the ground by the end of the year for the extension of the Palace of Justice. After their initial stupor, the population of the Marolle district mobilised through a variety of methods. This film reports on an episode that is emblematic of the history of victorious urban struggles.

La bande à Corneille (Josy Dubié & Gérard Loverius)
BE – 1973 – 16’ – FRE OV
Half a dozen teenagers from the Brussels neighbourhood of Marolles: they are “la bande à Corneille”. In an urban world that offers them very little space, they are looking for playgrounds. They often come into conflict with the police or the neighbours. Their favourite pastime is hanging out in the Bois de la Cambre or, even better, climbing the Palace of Justice on Place Poelaert.
