Cédric Tiberghien
Delicate, innovative and surprising. French pianist Cédric Tiberghien, artist-in-residence, surprises with some iconic works from the piano repertoire. World-famous are, for example, the final movement of Mozart's Eleventh Piano Sonata, inspired byTurkish music, and Debussy's L'Isle joyeuse, one of his most mysterious and poetic works. Equally ingenious are Beethoven's Eroica Variations with which he elevated the variation genre to new heights. His love for writing variations would also continue to inspire composers in the 20th century such as Anton Webern who wrote one of the very first serial works for the genre.
