Although she never had a fully-fledged musical career as a woman, Fanny Mendelssohn wrote more than 450 compositions such as songs and piano works, but also a trio, a quartet, an overture and cantatas. There are many gems to be discovered, such as the Fantasy, one of her two works for cello and piano. In this work, the two instruments do not play as equal partners, but take it in turn to accompany each other.
