Sophie Junker & Anthony Romaniuk
Isolation
Can solitude, whether chosen or forced upon us, lead to a kind of madness? Melancholy madness? Furious madness? These are the questions raised by Sophie Junker and Anthony Romaniuk. In the programme composed for this concert, Anthony Romaniuk experiments with the potential exchanges and surprising combinations of timbres between the harpsichord, piano and Fender Rhodes, shaking up styles and genres from the baroque to the musical. At his side, Sophie Junker uses her voice to take us on a journey from Purcell’s baroque to Brel and Lennon by way of Debussy and Satie, from ‘Music for a While’ to ‘Crazy Girl’ by Gershwin, right up to the inevitable Barbara.
