International Competition 2

Out of 3714 short films submissions, 59 films will compete for the prizes in the International Competition.

Winners of the Grand Prix in the International Competition and National Competitions are considered for pre-selection for the Oscars® in the Best Fiction/Animation Short Film category provided that the film complies with the Academy’s rules.

God in the Sky (Daniel Fox, Sean Peter Fox)
Australia - Fiction - 2021 - 19'00" - Color
'God In The Sky' tells the story of a young woman dealing with a crisis of faith. One day, an interstellar object appears on Earth and begins sending everyone visions of the afterlife - everyone except her.

China - Fiction - 2021 - 22'00" - Color
Lili, a young mother, lives with her gambler husband in a remote part of Sichuan. Lonely and poor, she heads for the city in a bid to earn enough money to save her dying father.

Kierre (Salla Sorri, Eva-Maria Koskinen)
Finland - Fiction - 2022 - 18'00" - Color
Anna sees Jasmine, her former school bully, after years when Jasmine brings her daughter to Anna’s dance class. Anna and Jasmine try to behave in a civilized manner, but there’s something bubbling beneath the surface. “Spiral” is about a ballet class that gets out of hand.

Just out of his teens, Oscar is passionate about horse racing. At night, he dreams of the winning horses and bets successfully the next day at the local bar. One night, Oscar sees Dan, an ex-lover of his mother's, again. In his dreams, everything blends together: the horses have disappeared. Oscar must then face dark memories.
