Special screening of Bulgarian films

The March of Letters | Petya of my Petya

The March of letters, 2015

This is a travelogue in time and space beginning in the IX century and reaching to today's reflections on the mission of Cyril and Methodius.

Why is their deed so important for all Slavic nations in the most important moments of their history and even up to the present day?

The aim of the director is to deconstruct nowadays' mythology, hence provoking contemplation over the multi-faceted truth based on fleeting records, temporal hoarding, propaganda hints and needs.

Petya of my Petya, 2021

"Petya of my Petya" is a film about that struggle of each generation to be itself with its own means of expression and methods. To protect their values. Although wrong in the eyes of others. It flips through pages of poetry, opens unhealed wounds and insists on answers. The film builds bridges between the past and the present, because the truth has many faces and history repeats itself. The story is inspired by the life and work of the talented Petya Dubarova, who left a bright mark in Bulgarian poetry with her youthful aspiration and unwavering spirit.

Both films will be screened to mark 24 May - the Day of the Holy brothers Cyril and Methodius, of the Bulgarian alphabet, education and culture and of Slavic script.

The event is free of charge and organised with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Bulgaria.
