School choirs
Convinced that musical education should start from a young age, Flagey Academy takes root in school choirs in Brussels. Professional choir directors and music educators lead children's choirs in various primary schools during school hours, lunch breaks, or after-school activities, introducing the youngest candidates to the art of choral singing. Participation is open to all children aged 6 to 12, based on motivation, and requires a certain level of commitment. These children learn about rhythm and intonation and discover the joy of singing within a group.
In collaboration with two other Belgian associations, ReMuA and Singing Molenbeek, Flagey offers this choral training in 14 primary schools in Brussels who received the label "Flagey Academy". As a result, more than 500 children currently benefit from it free of charge.
To encourage self-confidence and motivation among the children, they regularly perform in front of audiences. Additionally, children from different schools and neighborhoods come into contact with each other through shared activities.
Through collaborative projects and open rehearsals, the younger choristers become acquainted with Flagey Academy, and those who wish to continue singing during their teenage years at a higher level are encouraged to apply.
